The Autosummary of my Book

I was reading the nano forums from the procrastination station and found this thread about autosummary in Word. For fun, I decided I was curious enough to see what words were being used way too much in my book. Here is my 10 sentence summary:

As you can see, Brennan nods and asks too much stuff :oP If Brennan were not the name of my main character, I would also be even more horribly frightened of this :oP

Writing, Writing, Writing

That pretty much sums up the weekend aside from a trip to an art show in Gwangju. It was a nice art show, but for the most part, I don't get modern art. Sure, there was some stuff I liked, but there was a lot of stuff that looked like stuff I might have drawn when I was two. Oh well.

The book is almost 28,000 words now, so it's growing nicely. I'm in the middle of a flashback with my main character, so that's giving me room to expand the story some more.

Knitting? You Mean She Still Knits?

Yes I Do! I do still knit people. Some things never change, even if they slow down a little due to writing a book and catching a stupid cold on my birthday. Thank you to everyone who commented about the birthday on here yesterday! The gathering at the apartment was nice, even if I felt a little like death warmed over. The good news is that I feel quite a bit more human today and my appetite finally came back, so that probably means that the worst of this is over, or at least that the leftover pizza and cake will be devoured tonight...

Anyways, look, here's my progress on a feather and fan scarf:Ok, I said I still knit, I didn't say I had been knitting a lot! I'll try to work on it some more this weekend, but I really need to sit down and get the word count up on my NaNoWriMo. We'll see which one wins out now.

I do actually have to clear my throat to say this since the zicam has not cleared up the bug I have managed to catch. I am not as sniffly as yesterday, but I am really wiped out and tired. But on another note:

Today is my birthday, or well, it's the day of my birthday over here. I was born in America, so I still have about 4 more hours until it's my birthday over there :oP

I Do Still Live

Hey, everyone. Just popping on to let you know that I still live, but I might be catching a cold. Tonight when I get home, I am hitting the Zicam in hopes that if this is a cold, it will wipe it out. Right now it feels like my sinuses have a life of their own, so we'll see.

I have been knitting some on the scarf, but due to brain cells possibly joining the party in my sinuses this morning, stupid me forgot to bring the picture that I promised yesterday. If I am able to function when I get home, I'll try to post it. If not, just imagine a whopping three inches of feather and fan lace in knitpicks turquois splendor.

And it looks like we have a new president now. My blog is a politics-free zone, so I won't share my thoughts about it on here, but it looks like there will be a lot of change coming for sure.

Lastly, the word count on my novel is almost 16,000. I hope to get to 17000 by the end of tonight, but who knows how well I'll be writing when I get home.

We Interrupt This Knitting Blog....

With a writing blog. It's November, which means for thousands of people, it is also National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo for short. The past couple of years, I have watched as Renee and Kim have been writing, sometimes competing in nano. Well, this year, I had a story that really needed to get out of my head and onto paper. I'm really good at coming up with decent story ideas, but I never get around to finishing them because I tend to write as if going down the rabbit hole. This year is different though.

This weekend, I managed to log in over 10,000 words on my story. So far at school today, I have logged in almost 1500 words and will probably have more by the end of the day if I am still feeling the story grow.

So, yeah, this is a knitting blog, right? I did knit a little on Friday, and I have knit two repeats today on a feather and fan lace scarf. That's the extent of my knitting right now. It's been at a stand-still since last week when I was writing the last parts of my outline so I know where to direct this story.

I'll have pictures of the two-inch long scarf tomorrow though. And probably more word updates!

Socks and "Shrooms

I just finished the second Camo sock, but I won't have a picture of the finished sock until tomorrow. So to hold you over, here's what it looked like this morning when I took a quick picture:But it's all finished now and I'm happy about that. Now I'm going to start a really basic feather and fan lace scarf because I want something that is no brainer since Nanowrimo starts in two days. I'll be focusing most of my attention on writing, so the blog may be a little scarce with new knitting material for a while. I will still be knitting though because I just have to. All work and no fiber makes Leah cranky.

On another side note, I went out to eat last night and had a mushroom stew which was to die for:That's a big pile of 'shrooms with some thinly sliced beef. I now want more.

A Finished Sock and Another on the Way

I did finish the first camo sock yesterday while at school. Here's the finished product:And the second sock should be finished by this evening since I don't think I'm going to be up for working on convoluted colorwork. I might do some spinning though since Wednesday is for spinning.

Last night was a lot of fun. I had a few people over to the apartment for a stitch and bitch/ eat American food in the land of Kimchi. We ate mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, roasted garlic, PB&J, and cookies. All in all, it was a great time. Add to that the washing down of the food with Screwdrivers and it was even better. The best part though? We have now converted another chick to the realm of knitting. She learned to cast on last night and how to make a knit stitch. By the end of the night, she didn't want to stop and I'm betting that she's still going on the fabric right now!

When All Else Fails...

Look, a sock!Lorna's Laces (I mean really, you're reading my blog...what else would I be using?) in the Camouflage colorway. This is just a plain vanilla sock that I'm making for my neighbor Barbie. I originally loved the colors in the skein, but when I started knitting it up, I realized that these really aren't my colors. But I do think they are definitely her colors. So, she'll get a pair of socks, which works out since her feet have been cold here recently too.

Not much else is new on the knitting front. Donegal is stagnant again because I was not motivated to work on it at all. I have to admit that the speed of the sock is making me very happy right now. I think I just needed something small to pick me up and get me back on track.

For a Knitting Blog...

There hasn't been a lot of knitting going on. I do have a new sock in progress, but due to the craziness of the past week, I didn't get much else done. This week should be quieter and I should start making some knitting progress again. I did wind up 8 skeins of Shepherd Worsted into balls this week, so I accomplished something yarn-related :oP

More to come this week. Sorry I've been quiet and not posting. I should be better this week!

Donegal is Growing, Slowly but Surely

Here's the updated picture of Donegal. It's now 12 inches long and I'm hoping that this week I will get a lot knit on it since last week was so crazy that I wasn't able to get much done on it.I'm liking the sweater more and more each time I look at it. It's a pleasure to knit and it's turning out pretty good considering this is my first colorwork aside from the poker scarf that I knit DF. The only bad thing is that it doesn't travel well since it has 11 different colors in it and it's growing pretty fast.

Since most of you have no idea why last week was so crazy, let me just give you one word: Josephine. I don't want to go into it on the blog in case anyone were to find it over here, but it was a bad week. It's getting a little better today, but it still sucks. Thank goodness I have lots of knitting to do to keep me sane!

House Socks

I didn't knit a single row on Donegal last night, so there's no update to that progress. I did get most of the cuff done on the first slipper sock:As you can see, it was a terribly exciting knitting day.

I don't have much else for today. Hopefully tomorrow will show at least a finished sock, maybe more.

One Scarf Down, 6 Pairs of Slipper Socks to Go

Well, I finished the Irish Hiking Scarf this weekend and it's all ready to go into the Christmas presents box:Not the greatest expression on my face, but the scarf looks good :oP This one will go to my grandfather. The green one I made earlier will go to my grandmother. I'm making slipper socks for everyone else. I cast on yesterday for the first one and it's going OK using the two circular needles method. I didn't have any size 4 DPNs here, so I'm making due with what I have. I definitely am a DPN girl rather than 2 circs.

Of course I also worked on Donegal. It's about 12 inches long now, so only 4 inches more to go before I can start doing the steeks for the armholes. Here's the progress so far:It's growing at least. I've found that I like this sweater from a distance. When you look at it up close, the pattern turns into a blob of random colors, but step a foot or so away and it turns into this with the scrolls actually starting to show up. At least it's getting there. I'm still optimistic of being done with this before the end of winter and being able to wear it one time before putting it away for the Spring.

Two Knits for the Price of One!

Normally it's one or the other per blog post, but today you're in luck. For this blog post and this blog post only, I bring you not one, but two knitting projects! Step right up and see the colorwork that is Donegal:The knitting has taken on a mind of its own. It even throws up its own ends when it has had enough for one night:The scarf also has a mind of its own and said that it needed a length shot since it was neglected in yesterday's blog post:It didn't listen to my protests that I was in my pajamas for the night. Then it posed for a more subtle picture, all curled up and looking pretty:Now that the knits have had their blog time, I'm off. Thank goodness it's Friday. Oh, and it's also SnB with C tonight. Coffee, cake, yarn, and good company is always a good thing.

Spinning, Spinning, Spinning...Now I need to ply

Wednesdays are for spinning, so I hunkered down last night with the alpaca roving and spun up a second ball of the singles:I've got enough roving to probably do another 1-2 balls of singles. Since I didn't weigh the roving before I started spinning, I have decided to andean ply the singles so that I can get every last inch out of the yarn. The singles are a light fingering (aside from that big fluff end on the second ball there) and I hope that they will make a decent worsted weight yarn when all is said and done. I'm anxious to start working with this yarn, so I'm probably going to have to ply next week at the very least so I can have some yarn to fondle.

I also spun this much more of the roving once the second ball was off the spindle:It's not much, but there's enough there that it's going to keep me from plying unless I finish it up. I might just have to neglect Donegal knitting tonight and finish up some spinning so I can ply like crazy next week. We'll see what mood I'm in tonight when I sit down and decide what to work on.

Hm, fondle alpaca or work on colorwork...what to do?
